Heather is a fantastic natural dye with which you can achieve an extensive yellow colour spectrum. From light yellow to dark yellow, and everything in between. But (light) green shades can also be achieved with heather. It partly depends on which part of the heather you are going to dye (flowers or the stems) and on the colour of the fabric you are going to dye. Either way, with heather you achieve a diverse palette of earthy colours. Would you like to achieve deeper or brighter colours? Then heather is not recommended. Instead, we recommend you choose a dye like Chamomile, Tansy or Dyer’s greenweed.

Tip: We recommend that you add alum to the dye bath during the dyeing process. This ensures that the dye adheres better to the fabric.
