Plant dyed fabrics are known for their unique color, as well as the dark and light shades in the fabric. This is because it is handwork. The fabrics are dyed in large cauldrons on open fire. Delicate shades are known to be acceptable or even loved.
In order to achieve a strong red like this blanket, a huge amount of madder is used, and the dye process is also more time consuming, in comparison with most other dyebaths.
It is recommended to wash this fabric before you use it, especcially red and blue tend to ‘bleed’ a bit. Keeping the temperature on 30 degrees celcius and with the use of soft detergent, it will not affect the color or size of the fabric.
